Inexpensive Health Insurance
It's inexpensive health insurance, but remember it's for your pet.
The premiums run anywhere from about $350 to $480 per year. Oh, and I forgot to mention. This is pet insurance.

Shopping For Car Insurance
Is it harderIt’s back to the drawing board, I suppose. I guess I’ll just have to be grateful that home insurance, travel insurance, and pet insurance aren’t required. I can only imagine the kind of headache it would be to try and secure all of that without paying an arm and a leg!

Got The Pet Insurance
Pet insurance is another kind of insurance you hope you don't need.
I hope that I never have to use my accident and illness coverage but if I ever need to it’s there for me, giving me more options for treating conditions. My take on Pet Insurance is like my take on every other insurance I have, I hope to never need it but if I do it’s there.

Being Responsible
He’s not limping or anything, but the nail is visibly split. If you were in my shoes, would you take him to the vet? I pay $19.95/month for freaking PET INSURANCE. I’m pretty sure this is covered. Or would it be overreacting and should I just yank it off myself? (Ohmigod, I’m cringing at the thought of that right now.)

Visiting The Cat Optometrist
LOL:
But I did. I did see DR. CHANG, CAT OPTOMETRIST! I loved him but hated his receptionist, who treated me like the lowest common denominator just 'cuz my cat wasn't wearing a Prada Arompatherapy Semi-Precious Gemstone-Encrusted collar, but fuck her. See, Keith, this is why I hate West L.A. I don't belong there. I'm not allowed. There's no parking, and you get treated like crap just 'cuz you don't have pet insurance and you have to valet it just to go to the 711.

Business Week article: Putting on the Dog
A good post on the recent BusinessWeek article on the market for pets and pet supplies.
Click through for more.Industry watchers suggest that life-enhancement goods and services have the strongest growth potential. Pet insurance, once viewed as a frivolity, has blossomed, as surgeries and medical care have grown commonplace. The oldest such firm, Brea (Calif.)-based Veterinary Pet Insurance, still holds an estimated 83% share of the market, but more are on the way.

Veterinary Services Inflation
Pet insurance costs money, but may give you more options.
What this data doesn't show is the increase in the number of high-end vet bills so I'll see what we can dig up on that. As pet lovers, while we might be able to absorb the increase cost of regular vet visits, we are getting faced more and more with the large bills, which makes us as pet owners face the emotional life-or-money decision more frequently. This is where pet insurance can help avoid that awful situation.

MSN Money - Should you buy pet insurance?
Click through for a useful article on pet insurance.
MSN Money has a great article that looks at the pros and cons of pet health insurance from a financial product perspective. It's one of the few articles that actually doesn't use the usual pet insurance article format that goes like this:

Pet Insurance Glossary
For help on pet insurance:
When I talk with people about pet insurance, some of them confess that they are not that familiar with all the different features of a pet insurance policy. And why should they be? Less than one half of one percent of cat and dog lovers have pet insurance so it's not part of our everyday pet knowledge - yet!
I thought that if we could get some definitions down pat, then we'd all know what we are talking about. That is what this series is about - to develop a glossary of pet insurance terms that we all agree on.

Humanization of Pets
Interesting perspective on pet insurance.
But maybe it's just economics? One of the reasons that pet insurance is growing more popular (although you might not know it because less than one half of one percent of the US cats and dogs are insurered - big growth is hardly noticable to you and me) is because of the humanization of pets - we are treating our cats and dogs more like children than ever before.

Pet Insurance Gains Popularity
Insurance is a great way to spread the costs of animal care over time.
"In veterinary medicine, just like any other medicine, the cost of providing quality care is getting higher all the time," Gaines said. "One of the ways that owners are going to be able to cope with that is with pet insurance.

Out of Pocket
Before I buy insurance, I check the reputation of the company. This doesn't sound right to me.
Money can't replace Mac. But the pet insurance policy we had is refusing to pay out as they say he must have had the condition when we bought him. Including vets bills we're currently out of pocket by over £1,100. Arse.

Pet Insurance for Older Cats
I like the idea of having predictable costs for an aging pet.
Cat insurance is becoming more and more popular for older cats. Older pet cat insurance is now more affordable than it used to be. In the past many pet insurance carriers would stop insuring animals after the age of 8. This is no longer true - which is good news for cat owners.
