Symbolism

pets rattan bird cage The bird cage as political symbol.

The march will start at 3pm in Victoria Park. Participants are being asked to dress in black, as did participants in the July 1 march in 2003. A huge rattan bird cage will be carried at the head of the procession, signifying that Hong Kong's democracy is being constrained.

Home From The Vet

pets bird cage with cat looking in Wish all cats were this easy to train.

On her first day home from the vet, she cruised around the house getting acquainted with the sights, sounds and smells. This naturally led her to the bird cages. I caught her looking at the birds, made a “PSSSSST!!” sound and she took off like I had lit her tail on fire. The strange thing is is that she hasn’t done it since. I caught her on the table, made the same noise and she hasn’t gotten back on the table since. The entertainment center? Same deal. The bathtub. The kids’ beds. My office chairs. Anyplace I don’t want her to be.

Very interesting.

The Bird Room

pets bird room This sounds like a fantastic room in this blogger's new house:

Now that we’ve got the measurements for the “blue room”, the room that’s mostly glass that we’re going to put the birds in, we can sort of mark out what size that is here and figure out how much other room we’d have once the bird cages are in it. The problem is that the birds give off so much fluff and cockatiel dust that we probably don’t want to put computers or TVs or entertainment centers in with them. Or maybe we do, as long as we put the HEPA filter in there and change the filter a lot.

Gone to the Birds

pets bird cages Sounds like the parents went a litte bird-crazy:

When my parents moved to North Carolina, they shocked everyone by purchasing a severe macaw as a pet in their new home. Little did we know that two years later, they would have eight birds (ranging from a parakeet to two macaws), a kitchen full of bird cages, and a house completely overrun by their new feathered friends.

How Safe Are Metal Cages?

pets birds parrots I found this question on a great blog that covers all kinds of bird and parrot topics.

I love your site by the way. I have a few questions concerning your bird cages. How safe are the HQ cages? Do they chip, if it happens by chance is there zinc or any other heavy metals in the coating. The Prevue Hendryx model 130 fight cage (Brass finish). First, does it come in a silver color, second, I was told brass was toxic to birds? The Kings cages, the flight cages, I have seen them under with another name, are they made in Europe? Are they completely non-toxic?
