Perfect Cat
Raising the purrfect cat.
When I was in my twenties, I had a beautiful white cat who shared a tumbledown apartment with me. She served as a kind of dysfunctional flatmate – pulling cones all day, hitting me up for cash all the time and generally wreaking havoc in my life. Velcro had two personalities. When she wanted to be fed: she’d purr in my arms like a big, fluffy marshmallow. When she didn’t: she ruled the household with an Iron Claw.

Shelties
Useful post on the Sheltie.
Although a Shetland Sheepdog resembles a small Collie, it is not a "Miniature Collie". The term "Miniature Collie" implies that the Sheltie is a bred down version of the Collie, which it is not. The early Shetland Sheepdogs came from a small herding dog, called the "Toonie Collie" or "Toonie dog".

Winter Bird Feeder
From a post on winter, this bit on the importance of bird feeders.
Animals are much less active in winter. A bird feeder is most appreciated by our feathered friends at this time when food is less abundant. Noticing how quiet the animal world is will make spring seem all the more magical with its gift of baby creatures to welcome and observe.

Lessons In Urban Wildlife Habitats
Getting rid of the bird feeder changed this blogger's bird sightings in a surprising way.
Read the entire article.I've complained on this blog before about the lack of any interesting birds around my house. We seemed to always have the typical (Boring!) urban birds: house sparrows, starlings, and pigeons, with the occasional robin and mourning dove thrown in. I have also complained about my stupid neighbor calling the city on me about having bird feeders. It turns out that that neighbor did me a gigantic favor.
