The lady next door Mrs. Jonathan, was asking me as to which dog she is going to adopt since her grand daughter is constantly pampering her to get a puppy. Its really a matter of concern for all of us as to which dog will be an idle companion and a true friend. And, its out of this sheer necessity that I came up with a list of the top 10 most popular dog breeds in US.

"Squirrel Buster" A Bust
The sad story of the Squirrel Buster.
Yesterday, I was at the Birds Unlimited store in Burlington to see if I could find a squirrel-proof bird feeder. The ones I’ve had either were pulled to pieces or easily ramsacked by our local insatiable squirrels. Last year, the squirrel figured out how to pull out the feeder plugs and let the seed spill out. I would find the plugs in the grass and put them back in (Note: they’re really hard to pull out).

Web Cams
If you don't have your own bird feeder, check for bird feeder web cams.
Another recent discovery is Coles Pond WeatherCam in Walden Vermont. The camera provides a view of several bird feeders spread around the beautiful property of Coles Pond. The picture updates every 60 seconds and it is fun to watch the birds, rabbits, squirrels, deer, and even bear that come to feed there. The site also provides real-time weather data of the area and an archive of past screen captures that is fantastic. When I retire I want to do something similar with my backyard.

Drug Bust Produces Exotic Pet
Must have been on drugs to buy an exotic coatimundi.
The suspect was arrested after investigators found methamphetamine in his home, and will also be facing charges for possessing the Coatimundi without the required exotic animal license. After being locked up the man was informed that his pet would be given to a zoo or otherwise qualified exotic animal handler, he “was pretty much crying in jail” according to an officer who talked to the media.

The Yorkshire Terrier
Lots of good info on the small dog breed of Yorkshire Terriers here.
TThe Yorkshire Terrier is one of America’s favorite dog breeds. The United States AKC ranked it sixth favorite dog in 2003.
