Georgia Aquarium
The tank they set up in the next three photos was amazing to see in person. When standing in front of it, you felt as if you are surrounded by the water and fish. This tank featured salt water fish such as Clownfish and Blue Tangs also known as nemo and dory as made popular by Finding Nemo.

April Fools
From memorable post on pranks, the stuff you don't want to know about boys and cats.
Jimmy and I would ride our skateboards or bikes around with nothing else to do except be kids and man was it fun. I wish I had just a few of those days back just so that I could actually get some exercise. Pretending to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle was quite an aerobic and exhausting task. I would always pretend to be Donatello, the ninja turtle that wore purple and had a stick as a weapon. I was a bit of a nerd and so was Donatello, so it fit me pretty well. Jimmy and I also did the activities boys often do before reaching their teenage years. You know, putting firecrackers in frog’s mouths and watching them hop around until they explode, burning ants with magnifying glasses, shooting out abandoned house windows with a pellet gun, and the occasional throwing of cats into a swimming pool for good measure.

Princess Tashie
Well, not all princesses have pet snakes.
Here is Princess Tashie after her daddy gave her a bath. She allowed me to pull up her hair, but refused to be dressed in regular clothes. She wants to be a princess all day today. She also decided that all princesses have pet snakes. So she hasn’t put that down yet.

Drug Paraphernalia
Of course they have a pet snake.
Mike and his friends, Danielle and Seth would be our alter egos. They smoke everything, drink everything and just live a total nonchalant life style. As we walked into Mikes house on Friday night, a cloud of cigarette smoke surrounded us. I knew immediately that my first destination on Monday would be to the drycleaner to get that smoke smell off of my clothes. We took the tour of the house and I think Gina said it best, Total bachelor pad. They have about six old couches scattered throughout, a bathroom that hasnt been cleaned since the 80s, and a big screen television that you have to hit really hard in order to get a clear picture. My favorite part was their pet snake. It was a ball python. I cant believe Im saying this, but I actually thought it was cute. As I was sitting there, holding the snake, I said to myself, I think I could see myself owning one of these some day.

New Acquarium
Have fun with your new acquariumWe picked up everything, sanded and repainted the metal stand, Pat cleaned all the equipment while I dried and inspected and when Pat and I went on our little get away, we left the tank in our bathtub full of water to make sure everything was in tact. While we prepared all the things I became somewhat nervous and overwhelmed with the whole idea of an aquarium. I have to do a lot of work just with the four beta fish that we have and take care that everything is just right for them to thrive, how would I manage to take care of a 30-gallon tank full of tropical fish? Eeks!!!

Cat Advice
This blogger advises getting Siamese cats.
A friend of mine is thinking about getting a cat or two. I have strongly suggested that he go the same route as myself and adopt a traditional Siamese like this one, also known as an "Applehead Siamese". Here's some information from a breeder:

Now That's Gross
Yep, that's really gross.
However, none of that could prepare me for the comment I heard yesterday at a business luncheon. One woman, who’s pet snakes had gotten sick at one point or another, had to puree the mice. That is, buy a handful of live mice from the pet store and (through some series of events) puree them. I didn’t have the stomach to ask for details, though I wish I had.

Lady And The Tramp
The most famous scene in The Lady and the TrampNewMexiKen has been watching Lady and the Tramp — and watching it and watching it and watching it. I’m certain we’ve seen the scene with the Siamese cats (Si and Am) at least a dozen times.

Fairweather Dog Training
But all the other dogs were waiting for Bear.
After going to IKEA, we headed over to one of our favorite restaurants… Johnny Carinos Country Italian. It was quite delicious. We were originally planning on taking Bear to dog training tonight, but weather will prevent that from happening. As it looks now, we’ll just spend the rest of the day inside.

Dog Show Dating
Anyway, I think my relationship with reality TV and anything with a commentator/narrator has finally come around to bite me in the ass. Or tail. Or something. Last month when the Westminster Dog Show was on, I had lunch with a friend that I haven’t seen in seven years. This means, of course, that she wasn’t up to date on any of the little things that go on with me, and so she had no idea what she was doing when she asked if I indeed was ready to give up the “thrill and romance of dating” and finally settle down with someone. I replied that of course I’d give up the horror and torment of dating in order to settle down with someone, and then, Hawaiian-style, proceeded to explain that really, dating was like a dog show — it all comes down to grooming, pedigree, breeding, and presentation. She, of course, was rightfully appalled at this reduction, and said that even if it were an absolute truth I should perhaps let other people think there’s more to it than just this barest of recipes for conjuring the magic of romance and love.

Finding A Dog Kennel
It's hard to find the right dog kennel!
Hubby will be getting home tomorrow. WOOHOO! Finally will have a MAN around the house.(besides the teenager who thinks he is one, and is taking that roll to heart with his brothers.) So I will be getting some much needed cleaning and laundry done today, so that we are packed and ready to go by Thursday evening! I have to take the Golden girls to the kennel Thursday also. I decided to try a new kennel, since Daisy through such a fit the last time at our original kennel. They just don't seem friendly to me, and I guess she agrees. So I drove out to the country, too check a new one out. When I spoke to the guy on the phone, I knew I was going to like it. They live on a farm, and after they retired early, they got bored, So they opened a dog kennel and have been doing that for several years...And have watched the same dogs over and over. LOL He fixes them snacks, and plays with them. He was a very friendly sort of man. I think my girls will love it. They are attention whores, and this guys sounds like he will give them all the attention they want. LOL

Bracing For Bird Flu
The market for exotic pets may tighten up with bird flu on the way. Not to mention chicken feet.
Last week, federal agriculture chiefs moved to increase by 20 percent the 115-member force that hunts for smuggled birds and products that could introduce H5N1. Anti-smuggling squads are to patrol agricultural fairs and retail markets where Americans buy exotic pets and delicacies such as chicken feet.

Cypriot Dogs
Not a good life for dogs in Cyprus, according to this post.http://leonardo.spidernet.net/Populus/10616/variety.jpghttp://leonardo.spidernet.net/Populus/10616/variety.jpghttp://leonardo.spidernet.net/Populus/10616/variety.jpghttp://leonardo.spidernet.net/Populus/10616/variety.jpghttp://leonardo.spidernet.net/Populus/10616/variety.jpghttp://leonardo.spidernet.net/Populus/10616/variety.jpghttp://leonardo.spidernet.net/Populus/10616/variety.jpg
Whilst this is an extreme case of cruelty, mistreatment of dogs is commonplace in Cyprus. At this time of year hunters abandon the dogs they have used. They wander the countryside searching for food until they inevitably end up under the wheels of a car. A Dead dog in the road is a common sight at this time of year.

Waiting With The Fishes
Waiting with the fishies is better than swimming with the fishies.
Why do so many waiting rooms have tropical fish tanks? We had a routine appointment this morning. The nature of the appointment itself is not especially relevant; the interesting part was the waiting room where we had to, well, wait. In one corner stood a tank containing a varied selection of tropical fish. There was, I believe, something not quite right about this tank, for no matter how many times I counted, I always came up with a different number of fish. (Was this the fabled enchanted fish tank of legend? Or maybe I’m just not so good at counting things that won’t stay still.)

The Impossibility Of Cryptozoology
Some musings on cryptozoology, strange animals, and exotic pets.
The moors of the British Isles have always been full of stories about gigantic (sometimes panther-sized) black cats. In the old days, these sightings were taken as either devil cats or werecats. Today, people are still reporting these strange animals, but now the favored explanation has switched to escaped exotic pets.
