Find The Right Dog Quiz

dog breed beagle If you're confused about which dog breed is best for you, click through.

The quiz asks a series of questions and then gives a list of dog breeds that would be good for you. The only thing I didn’t like about the quiz was that there were a lot of questions about dog food (I guess since that is what Purina makes), but other than that, I thought it was fun and informative.

Hi I am Rachael and I have a big backyard.
I love small dogs but then I would want a dog that loves sports and that runs around and gets in trouble like a normal dog. (well some.) I am 10 years old and I have a 2 year old brother. He loves animals. Even my hamster. So please e-mail me back at rachyrea@gmail.com. Thanks!!!

I don't think that my parents should have let my aunt pick out my dog for me, he nerver stays in our yard, we don't want a fence and the electric fences never seen to last more than a week, he always has more energy and roaming around is boring for him so he starts barking. Plus whenever my friends come over I have to put him in his kennel because other wise he will get so exited he will pee or bite them.

P.S. he is a rat terrier, good dog but with many big flaws.

I really love the Schipperke, and I'm wondering if it's a good dog for me...
I would love to walk it daily, and go jogging during the summer. I live in a one-story home and not a very big backyard. I also have a seven-year old brother. My parents could also walk the dog. Is this a good dog for families?
Does anybody know anything about this dog? Please email!

I would like to have a dog that is not to big and not to small and not medium. It has to be low shed and not so yelpy. I would love it to be energetic and playful outside but calm and quiet inside. Good with children easy to train and shorthaired.

Thank
You :)

heyya x i realy badly want my own dog... i've got a black lab whos 10 but thats kinda the family pet... i want to have my own responsibility and train it and maybe (depending on the breed ) enter it in agility or obedience competitions as i would love to train it realy well ... but mum and dad say that bunty ( the black lab ) would be upset if we got another dog and left her out ive tried to explain that she would benefit from it as she needs to work better with dogs but then they get annoyed and dont listen.. ive looked through all the rspca dogs for adoption and there are a few that i think would be perfect for me and bunty and that would also make mum and dad like i too but everytime i try to explain the good points they just say we are not getting another dog when buntys still here
is there any breeds that would match all of these and which are friendly but not too lively ( only coz of bunty) plz help =]x

p:s i walk and brush bunty 2 times a day so i know i would be able to groom it and keep it exercised

I would like a small dog that can be left alone for a while and not shed to much but it is okay if they shed a little. They have to be cute and not cost to much.I also need one that can get along with other dogs and a cat. Also, the dog can be energetic because we have a fenced in yard.

hi im thalia, im 16 hitting 17 :D
and im looking for a dog...a family dog kinda
i like the outdoors: camping, quading, road trips to the forests ect. but thats weekends or break. meanwhile i go on walks/joggs. i have a big custom house with an acre for a back yard. i do have a horse. non spook so he likes everything.
i adore small dogs they're great for cuddling and being lapdogs, go buy those doggy purses to put them in lol. but i love the big gentle cuddly giants as well... i do want a dog take outdoors with me or just lay on the couch with and watch a movie. one that will like to fetch or play ball with. my neighbor hood has alot of dogs so one that would get along with others would be great... i do like taking my dog with me everywhere i go...but i dont know what kind of dog i should get? i think a medium to a semi large dog would do, but what breed should i get?

I just got a Havaneese puppy. She doesn't shed and really smart. If you want a sweet little puppy this is the right breed for you, although she does take a lot of time to take care of but she is soooo worth it! ;) they originated in Cuba they should get about 7-13 pounds and don't bark that much.

I know when I was looking for a dog for my dad it was really hard to decide on a breed. Many sites will just cover your living situation and doesn't take into account the personality of dogs. I created this quiz after several weeks of research to try and help those looking for a dog out. It's at www.codefromjames.com/dogquiz Good luck with your new dogs.

Posted by: annie mead at April 13, 2008 12:45 PM

Anyway, now that im done that, LOL. Atoosa, you should consider a boston terrier. They have sleek coats, only need a daily walk, great with kids, beautiful, not too small but still easy to carry.
Some Boston Terriers can be a bit harder to train, but i'm sure if you look into them it'll be fine.

Posted by: Puppylove. at March 27, 2008 04:25 AM

Wow, most of you people should NOT get a dog. Allison, you want a dog that will belong to the outdoors? WTF!?! You dont leave dogs chained up outside their whole lives. And all dogs cost money.
And people, if you dont have time or money to tend to dogs, DONT GET ONE!! Try a plant instead.
And what is this....people wanting small dog good with little kids? Umm...most small dogs are very fearful of little kids, unless on the very rare occasion, that they are RAISED with kids that know how to PROPERLY TREAT AN ANIMAL.
Before getting a dog you should RESEARCH various breeds of interest. Keep in mind that a dog needs DAILY exercise and dogs are pack animals, and NEED to be with their family. Their not something you can chain up outside, because once again they hate being away from you, and being chaned outside is just plain inhumane.
Dogs cost a fair bit of money, and should be fed a proper diet consisting of esential nutrients. And be sure to avoid corn and such.
A dog is a HUGE responsibility, and needs to be taken seariously seens as you will have it for 10-20 years.
Dogs are such devoted and compashionate animals. And dont deserve to be in the hands of irresponsile owners.

AND SPAY AND NEAUTER YOUR PETS!!!

Posted by: autumn at March 1, 2008 02:27 PM

Hi I'm planning on getting a dog soon too but what I'm want doesn't seem to exist! I like giant dogs like the great dane, but not stocky or heavy ones, I like elegant, slender and long-legged dogs. Also, I like dogs to be obedient and good with small pets. I love the look of salukis and scottish deerhound, but they are not obedient or good with pets. Finally, i would prefer a dog with low exercise needs, ideally 30mins a day or less. Any ideas?!

The bigger the better :-D

Bianca, the dog for you is a Pit Bull, young, no older than 6 months so you can socialize it with your kids. Judge the deed, not the breed! I am 12 years old, and have had 1 purebred Pit Bull, Delilah, 1 Pit Bull/Lab mix, Storm, and currently have 2 Pit Bull/Chow Chow mixes, Sandi and Kristi. Trust me once you have had a Pit Bull you will not want another breed!

Oops, my comment about the Boxer was for Crystal. Boxers are big, great with children, protective but not too aggressive if trained properly. Good luck!

I am responding to Bianca. Sounds like a Boxer would be perfect for you. Good luck!

I'm looking for a small dog (10-20 lb.). Preferably one that does not need much exercise because I do not have a fenced-in yard. The dog needs to be good with cats and not aggressive toward them or humans. I don't want a hyper dog, just one that is social and loving.

hi. i am interested in getting a dog, but i cant find the perfect one for me. i want a small dog thatis very affectionate and somewhat energetic. i dont want a dog that has an annoying, yelping bark. i definetely dont want a poodle. i was thinking about a maltese, bichon frise, or cockapoo

I am having trouble finding the right breed for me. I want a large breed (the bigger the better) that is intelligent and easy to train. It has to be good with children and very loyal to the family. I would like a breed that is protective when needed but not aggressive.

Advice to Jerry: The right dog for you is a poodle, they are hypoallergenic and are a good companioin, they come standard, miniature, and toy. They are energenic and very loveable. They are also the 2nd smartest dog breeds.

I would like a small dog that can belong to the outdoors and not shed to much but is okay if they shed a little. They have to be cute and not cost to much. We do not want a chubby breed that needs lots of food, we want our dog to be able to roughhouse and not get tired to easily. We know this is a specific request, but we would love a dog that follows under these categories.
